VIDEO MAPPING FOR EXTRAORDINARY EVENTS
Video mapping techniques have been used for some years now in events aimed at the general public, such as urban festivals and open-air shows. These spectacular shows totally immerse the audience in a world of their own. It's less well known, but video mapping can also be adapted to smaller, indoor stages, for seminars or corporate events, for example.
Video mapping involves using objects or supports other than a conventional screen to project videos that follow the shapes of buildings or objects.
Surfaces can then be visually reshaped and animated to create a fully-fledged immersion space.
A few weeks ago, for example, we produced an animation in which our performer interacted with videos projected onto several white pyramids set up on stage.
We have also just completed a project at the Palais Brongniard in Paris, where a major brand was celebrating its 55th anniversary. Open zone created the show during the dinner, in front of 400 guests, and the projection was 14 meters high! Spectators were blown away!
EVER MORE NEW TECHNO IN OUR STUDIOS
At Open Zone, we love testing new technologies. A few weeks ago, we talked about our eagerness to discover the latest iPhone. On a larger scale, everything to do with new technologies arouses our curiosity, and gives us the opportunity to imagine new animations. For example, we're currently working on augmented reality techniques, and on an animation using holograms. More on this soon!
